U-CARE, Department of Women’s and Children’s Health, Uppsala University, Sweden

The Uppsala Trial Forge Centre is based at U-CARE, Department of Women’s and Children’s Health, at Uppsala University, Sweden. Our Centre focuses on two methodological priorities: the effective use of patient and public contribution in trials, and increasing the diversity of people who take part in trials.
We aim to develop and evaluate practical methods to support meaningful involvement in the design, conduct, analysis, and reporting of trials. We will also create guidance and training materials to help researchers embed patient and public contribution effectively in their work.
A key goal of the Uppsala Trial Forge Centre is to enhance diversity in research participation more broadly. We will work to identify and promote approaches that make trials more inclusive and ensure that study populations reflect the diversity of the communities they aim to serve.
We will collaborate closely with other Trial Forge Centres to build the evidence base for effective patient and public contribution and diversity strategies. Patient and public contribution is still developing in Sweden, and we aim to provide direct support and collaboration opportunities for researchers who wish to integrate this approach into their trials.
